The South Australian Outback town will be the back drop to a new series which sees celebrities build a Mars-inspired colony thanks to the Australian Government’s Location Incentive.
The newest international production brought to Australia via the Location Incentive will see the desert-scape of Coober Pedy as the backdrop for new unscripted series Stars On Mars. The series is set to create over 250 jobs for local crew and access the services of over 150 Australian Businesses.
Stars on Mars will provide international celebrities with the opportunity to take part in a Mars experiment, experiencing what it would be like to be part of a space program and colonise Mars.
With the remote outback in and around Coober Pedy imitating the Martian landscape, this simulation will see celebrities experience physical and mental challenges inspired by real life Mars exploration programs.
The Location Incentive continues to attract large budget international productions to our shores. Stars on Mars will be the largest television format production ever filmed in the state.
