The IVAIS program, administered by the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications, provides base operational support to more than 80 Indigenous-owned art centres, as well as a number of industry service organisations, regional hubs and art fairs across Australia. These organisations provide professional opportunities for around 8,000 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander visual artists and employment for more than 500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts workers, most living in remote communities.
