How to apply

Eligibility

Funding assistance is available to organisations that manage regular festivals and must be, or must apply through, a registered legal entity (with an ABN) or an incorporated organisation. Eligible organisations include local governments and councils, cultural organisations and regional arts councils that manage festivals.

To be eligible for funding, the proposed activity must be arts driven, presented for the first time and be otherwise not viable without funding support from Festivals Australia.

What can I apply for?

Funds are available to present exciting new projects which will add to the cultural program of a regular, ongoing festival or a significant one-off community celebration.

Funds are not available for projects such as competitions, capital works (e.g. the construction of buildings, or the purchase of equipment) or the ongoing costs of running the festival.

Assistance is provided in the form of direct funding, subject to a formal Funding Agreement.

You cannot receive funding from Festivals Australia, the Regional Arts Fund or the Other Australian Government Programs for the same costs for a project.

Application process

All applicants are required to read the guidelines, and provide the original completed and signed application form, festival budget, project budget and project costs calculator (if over $12,000).

The Accessibility/Remoteness Index of Australia (ARIA) search tool will assist you in determining which cities, towns and locations are designated regional or remote. It is important to remember a key objective of the program is to support projects in regional and remote Australia.
