National Arts and Crafts Industry Support (NACIS) program

Description: 
NACIS provides competitive funding on an annual or triennial basis to Indigenous art centres and Indigenous arts support and service organisations to strengthen Indigenous art centres and to build a more sustainable Indigenous visual arts industry.
Relevancy: 
Article 6 of the Convention discusses the rights of parties at the national level to protect and promote diversity of cultural expressions including "(g) measures aimed at nurturing and supporting artists and others involved in the creation of cultural expressions". The Convention also recognises "the important contribution of artists, others involved in the creative process, cultural communities and organizations that support their work". The aims and objectives of NACIS are consistent with these parts of the Convention.
