Movable cultural heritage laws
In 1970 the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) adopted the UNESCO Convention on the Means of Prohibiting the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property. Australia ratified the convention by passing the Protection of Movable Cultural Heritage Act 1986 (PMCH Act), giving the 1970 Convention force in Australian law.

Movable Cultural Heritage—powers of inspectors under the Act
The Minister for the Arts may appoint inspectors to enforce the provisions of the PMCH Act.
