The Australian Government provides funding and grants to arts and cultural organisations and individual artists from across Australia to advance our rich cultural industries.

  • Awards

Excellence in literary works by Australian authors warrants rewards, whether through literary prizes or practical steps to ensure writers and publishing houses can thrive. The Department supports the literature sector's vitality and sustainability in various ways.

  • Tax incentives

Tax incentives assist arts organisations to attract private investment in the arts and encourage business to engage with the arts sector to support important cultural activities.

  • Lending rights

Our lending rights programs support Australian writing by paying eligible creators and publishers who lose income through the free use of their books in lending libraries.

Worldwide commemorations marking the centenary of the First World War will start on 4 August 2014 and continue until 2018. For Australians, the 'Anzac Centenary' will be one of the most significant commemorations to take place in the lives of current generations.

  • Resale Royalty Scheme

The Australian Government values artists and their contribution to culture and the economy. The Resale Royalty Right for Visual Artists ensures that, following certain commercial resales, Australian visual artists receive a direct financial benefit as their work increases in market value.
